Summer Quran program - intermediate session

2010 Summer

An intensive weekday evening program in recitation and memorisation of the Qur'an.

This class is for brothers only (ages 10 & above who are at the appropriate skill level), we are looking into offering sister's classes and will update our website once everything is in place inshallah.

This session is geared towards students who can recite directly from the Qur'an but with difficulty in pronunciation and intonation. Emphasis will be placed on the proper pronunciation of letters, their attributes, origins and intonation. Students will learn the proper rules of recitation through theory and practice, with the guidance of the instructor.

Students will also be expected to memorise a selected set of surahs with the assistance of the instructor.

At the end of the program, students will be able to recite the selected chapters in the correct manner of recitation, and will be able to identify rules of Tajweed as they appear in the verses.

This session is ideally suited to students of the Qur'an who are not necessarily enrolled in any special tahfiz or tajweed classes, can recite the Qur'an with some difficulty in pronunciation and application of the rules of tajweed, or those who wish to focus on memorising selected chapters of the Qur'an under the guidance of a teacher.

 

The Qur'an Recitation and Memorization program will continue during the blessed month of Ramadan, with the inclusion of two other eminent Qaris from Libya (Qari Waleed Saleem and Qari Hamza). All three Qurra were guests of the IIT during previous Ramadan (2007-2009), and we are honoured that they will be our guests during Ramadan this year.
